Seeking Equity & Respect for all Viewpoints in Education
S.E.R.V.E. Alameda is a grass-roots organization seeking equity and respect for all viewpoints in public education. We educate and empower parents to successfully engage the school district’s policies and personnel by providing guidance and support to ensure sound democracy and respect for everyone. Besides our Mission, please see the Measure E Update page to learn more what you can do to make your vote count towards our efforts.
RespectA. Parental Rights
Parents have a right to educate their children at home with their customs, traditions, and values. Schools shall remain neutral. B. All Viewpoints All viewpoints must have an opportunity to be heard. However, no individual or grup has the right to gain respect for their viewpoint at the expense of disrespecting another group. C. Democracy All school districts must respect the will of parents, voters and taxpayers. Elected officials should be more interested in what the majority is saying than what the whims of special interest are touting. D. Innocence Young and impressionable minds must be protected for the sake of their innocence. Discussions get introduced to young children unneccessarily and before kids are mature enough to handle these discussions with their parents. | RESTOREA. Parental Confidence
Decisions based upon a minority of parents, without the consent of law, must be re-assessed in order to restore parental confidence within the majority. B. Democracy The democratic process must be upheld regarding ALL decisions within the school district. Any deviation from this process violates public trust and destroys parental confidence. C. Fiscal Prioritization The School Board must take a serious look at the spending trends of the District and prioritize based upon credible, scientific studies and academic needs. Where Protected Classes are concerned, even further prioritization is necessary to ensure equity. D. Academics Academics first, academics second and academics before any other issue. Any program that creates a diversion from academics must be challenged and reconsidered. |
RESPONSIBILITY
A. Fiscal Accountability
Tax-dollars must be budgeted to reflect priorities of education.
B. Equal Representation
The State of California has identified six protected classes. Each protected class needs equal representation whenever one is being promoted. If one group is given a monopoly, than all other groups are not being represented.
C. Academics
Since academics are the #1 priority and the purpose for the school district’s existence, schools must be held responsible to ensure every child graduates with the ability to compete in the International world.
