1.   What is S.E.R.V.E. Alameda?
We are members of the Alameda community seeking true equity and respect for all viewpoints in education.  We empower parents to successfully engage the school district with sound democracy and respect for everyone.  We strive to educate parents concerning their rights, and keep them informed of the School District meetings, events and curriculum changes.

2.    Where does S.E.R.V.E. Alameda get its support?
Alameda residents are the primary support of S.E.R.V.E. Alameda.  Representation of school boards and access to school district administration has become a concern across the Bay Area and S.E.R.V.E. Alameda has gained the support of other parent groups.  We are fortunate to have individuals and groups consulting, advising and supporting S.E.R.V.E. ALAMEDA legally and many other ways.
3.   Is S.E.R.V.E. Alameda a Religious Group?
No. S.E.R.V.E. Alameda is a community-based organization that serves all races and creeds.  The group was formed to give a voice and support to parents who are having difficulty accessing the AUSD government and administration.  Parents have many concerns that, to date, are being ignored as individuals, and do not have the force of influence with the school district as special interest.

4.    What is S.E.R.V.E. Alameda’s Position on lesson 9?
In a word, Lesson 9 is inappropriate for young children.  It sexualizes our young children, robbing them of the innocence their parents cherish and desire to protect.  Lesson 9 is problematic and unfair in that it is a guise to a political movement in our schools. It promotes and gives privilege one protected class at the expense of all other protected classes.

5. Is S.E.R.V.E. Alameda an Anti-Gay Group?
Absolutely not. S.E.R.V.E. Alameda supports everyone’s right to petition the government and to be heard.  S.E.R.V.E. Alameda believes everyone’s rights should be respected and protected. The reason that S.E.R.V.E. Alameda exists is, everyone's rights weren't respected and protected in the disctricts "anti-bullying" program.

6.    What are protected classes?
Education Code section 200 referring to Penal Code section 422.55 governing “hate crimes”, provides that “It is the policy of the State of California to afford all persons in the public schools, equal rights and opportunities in our state educational institutions, regardless of their sex, ethnic group, race, national origin, religion, disability and sexual orientation.”

7.    What about safety and bullying concerns?
Safety and bullying are very important and major concerns of all schools regardless of the population.  Differences range from something as simple as height to race.  Children tease or bully for reasons across a wide spectrum.  Schools and parents have a responsibility to teach respect for all.  The rich diversity of the Bay Area encourages all of us to be culturally sensitive to the needs of others.  If students are taught the “golden rule”, everyone is respected.  If one teaches basic rules of respect, and etiquette, a posture of civility develops and there is no need for behavioral rules for every difference.
