1.   What is S.E.R.V.E. Alameda?
We are members of the Alameda community seeking true equity and respect for all viewpoints in education.  We empower parents to successfully engage the school district with sound democracy and respect for everyone.  We strive to educate parents concerning their rights, and keep them informed of the School District meetings, events and curriculum changes.

2.    Where does S.E.R.V.E. Alameda get its support?
Alameda residents are the primary support of S.E.R.V.E. Alameda.  Representation of school boards and access to school district administration has become a concern across the Bay Area and S.E.R.V.E. Alameda has gained the support of other parent groups.  We are fortunate to have individuals and groups consulting, advising and supporting S.E.R.V.E. ALAMEDA legally and many other ways.
3.   Is S.E.R.V.E. Alameda a Religious Group?
No. S.E.R.V.E. Alameda is a community-based organization that serves all races and creeds.  The group was formed to give a voice and assistance to parents who are having difficulty accessing the AUSD government and administration.  Parents have many concerns that, to date are being ignored as individuals, and do not have the force of power and influence with the school district as special interest.

4.    What is S.E.R.V.E. Alameda’s Position on lesson 9?
In a word, Lesson 9 is inappropriate for young children, robbing them of the childhood innocence parents cherish and desire to protect.  Lesson 9 is problematic and unfair in that it seeks to promote one protected class at the expense of disrespecting all other protected classes.

5. Is S.E.R.V.E. Alameda an Anti-Gay Group?
Absolutely not. S.E.R.V.E. Alameda supports everyone’s right to petition the government and to be heard.  S.E.R.V.E. Alameda believes everyone’s rights should be respected and protected. The reason that S.E.R.V.E. Alameda exists is, everyone's rights weren't respected and protected in the disctricts "anti-bullying" program.

6.    What are protected classes?
Education Code section 200 referring to Penal Code section 422.55 governing “hate crimes”, provides that “It is the policy of the State of California to afford all persons in the public schools, equal rights and opportunities in our state educational institutions, regardless of their sex, ethnic group, race, national origin, religion, disability and sexual orientation.”

7.    What about safety and bullying concerns?
Safety and bullying are very important and major concerns of all schools regardless of the population.  Differences range from something as simple as height to race.  Children tease or bully for reasons across a wide spectrum.  Schools and parents have a responsibility to teach respect for all.  The rich diversity of the Bay Area encourages all of us to be culturally sensitive to the needs of others.  If students are taught the “golden rule”, everyone is respected.  If one teaches basic rules of respect, and etiquette, a posture of civility develops and there is no need for behavioral rules for every difference.

10.What is Alameda Parents for the Recall of Jensen Mooney & Tam?
This is a Political Action, Recall Committee set up for the sole purpose of recalling Tracey Jensen, Ronald Mooney and Nielsen Tam. These three board members of AUSD, ignored the known will of the majority of the citizens of Alameda who do not want the school district undermining their right to teach their children their own family values, morals and traditions. The school district should have remained neutral and honored parents' authority but that did not happen. Neither was an "opt-out" given to parents of these highly controversial lessons to their young children. This is irresponsible and unacceptable.

Recall petitions are now available for signatures from registered voters of Alameda residents. Please offer your support by giving your signature for our children. You may send us U.S. Mail or send an email to the address below. Thank you for your support.
